한국 매체들이 애플의 '한국에 등을 돌리고 있다'라는 보도를 하고 있다. 이는 사실이 아니다.

Apple would love the iPhone to be sold in Korea, they know a lot of tech savvy Koreans would love to get their hands on the iPhone, they know that there is a huge market in Korea and they know the iPhone will be successful.

애플은 한국에 아이폰을 판매하고 싶어하고, 그들은 기술에 박식한 한국인들이 아이폰을 정말로 갖고 싶어 하는 것을 알고 있고, 한국에는 거대한 시장이 있고, 아이폰은 성공할 것을 알고 있다.

The problem is not with Apple. The problem is with the telecom companies in Korea. Both SK and KTF claim to be in talks with Apple, this is quite possibly true.

문제는 애플에 있는 것이 안디ㅏ. 문제는 한국의 통신사들에게 있다. SK와 KT는 애플과 대화을 하고 있다고 한다. 맞는 말이긴 하다.

But what they are demanding is the removal of many of the applications that make the iPhone what it is.

하지만, 그들은 많은 어플리케이션(응용프로그램이라 생각하셈) 등을 아이폰에서 제거하기를 원하고 있다.

For example, Korean telecom companies do not want the iPhone to be WIFI enabled. What they want is for Korean users to have to use the internet through their own telephone network.

예를 들면, 한국 통신사는 아이폰에 WiFi가 포함되는것을 원치 않는다. 그들이 원하는 것은, 한국 사용자들이 자신들이 구성한 네트워크 망을 통해 인터넷을 이용하는 것이다.

Apple say no to this because it would dramatically slow down the internet speeds and disable many of the sat-nav functions.

애플은 안된다고 한다. 왜냐면 인터넷 속도를 드라마틱하게?!느려지게하고 여러가지 기능을 사용 불가능하게 하기 때문이다.

 It would also make using the internet on an iPhone impossibly expensive.

이는 또한 아이폰으로 인터넷을 이용하는 것을 비싸게 만든다.

The telecom companies are also demanding that many of the applications available on the iPhone be removed from a Korean iTunes (for example the Skype App). Again, to protect the Korean consumer, Apple are refusing to do this.

The real reason why the iPhone is not coming to Korea in the neat future is not Apple, it is the profit hungry telecom companies who want to make huge profits at the expense of the Korean consumer.

아이폰이 한국에 들어오지 않는 진짜 이유는 애플 때문이 아니라, 이익에 허덕이는 한국 통신사들이 한국 소비자로부터 많은 이익을 얻고 싶어하기 때문이다.

1. 애니콜과 싸이언의 핸드폰은 대부분 한국에서 사는 것이 유럽이나 미국에서 사는것보다 2배이상 비싸다.

2. 한국에서 폰으로 인터넷을 이용하는 비용(데이터통화료)는 유럽보다 3배이상 비싸고 2배이상 느리다.

3. 한국은 유럽 연합과로밍계약을 맺지 않은 유일한 선진국이다.
